What's the best way to use a mortgage calculator without getting overwhelmed by the numbers?

Working backwards would probably be the easiest way to avoid people getting overwhelmed. I always like for people to know what they can afford and budget for before looking at the preapproval. It would be extremely helpful if they could put in the number they're comfortable with and work backwards to a purchase price range from there.
