Becoming a publicly listed company is a monumental occasion for Better as we continue our journey to make the homeownership process cheaper, faster, and easier for all.

In 2014, we began engineering a homebuying process that puts the needs of our customers first, with competitive rates, innovative tech, and around the clock digital service.

While we’re always looking to the future and new ways to build the best homeownership company in America, we want to take a moment to celebrate 10 milestones that helped us get here:

  1. In just seven years, Better Mortgage became the first fintech lender to achieve $100B in mortgages financed for American families.¹

  2. In January 2023, Better Mortgage introduced same-day delivery to mortgages, boiling what takes weeks with other lenders down to just 24 hours with One Day Mortgage. For the first time ever with Better Mortgage, qualifying buyers can go online the moment they win an offer, lock their rate, and get an underwritten mortgage Commitment Letter within a single day.²

  3. Better Mortgage has received 20 awards throughout the year of 2023 so far. Some of these awards include Forbes Best Online Mortgage Lenders, Business Insiders Best for First-time Homebuyers, and Money’s Best Mortgage Lender for Fast Closing Time.

  4. Customer dashboards are open 24/7! That means if you have a purchase contract in hand, banking hours won’t have to hold you back when you’re ready to sprint toward your closing date. You can lock your rate and kick off the underwriting process at any time.

  5. Together, the launches of Better Mortgage, Better Real Estate, Better Cover, and Better Settlement Services help our customers seamlessly buy, sell, refinance, and insure their home under one roof. And while we’re all digital, that doesn’t mean you’re alone. Our mortgage experts, real estate partners, and insurance agents are dedicated to answering questions and helping you along the way.

  6. We’re proud partners of companies we believe are the finest in their industries. In 2019, Better Mortgage partnered with Ally Bank to offer Ally customers a mortgage solution through Ally Powered by Better. Since launching, Ally & Better have grown Ally Home into a national mortgage lender, serving tens of thousands of customers along the way.

  7. Our market has been extended to serve borrowers internationally! We recently acquired Trussle (now Better UK), the UK’s most innovative online mortgage broker.³

  8. Better has offices in Charlotte, NC; Irvine, CA; India, and the UK. New York City is home to our headquarter office (which is located in the World Trade Center!) Thank you to our teams across the country and globe that invest and contribute to our collective success.

  9. We’re proud of the talented loan officers that make up the team at Better. Take Marissa Gurtler, Ahmed Jadallah, Jared Clark and Robert Caldwell, who were recognized as winners in the Scotsman Guide's Top 100, the industry's most comprehensive, verified rankings of the nation's top producing residential mortgage brokers, originators, loan officers, and bankers.

  10. Better Mortgage has issued 1,300,000 pre-app letters, spent over 66,000,000 minutes speaking with borrowers, and funded over 406,000 customers. Thank you to all the Better homeowners that have helped us build our legacy and believe in the power of digital homebuying. We are excited to continue to build a better way home.

² Better Mortgage’s One Day Mortgage promotion offers qualified customers who provide certain required financial information/documentation to Better Mortgage within 4 hours of locking a rate on a mortgage loan the opportunity to receive an underwriting determination from Better Mortgage within 24 hours of their rate lock. The underwriting determination is subject to customary terms, including fraud and anti-money laundering checks, that take place pre-closing and which may trigger additional required documentation from the customer. Better Mortgage does not guarantee that initial underwriting approval will result in a final underwriting approval. See OneDay Mortgage Terms and Conditions.
