1. Offer Terms
The mortgage loan and mortgage services (including offer benefits) are provided exclusively by Better Mortgage Corporation, and are not provided, underwritten or serviced by American Express. This offer does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of Better Mortgage or its mortgage services by American Express. American Express is not responsible for any of the activities of Better Mortgage. American Express’ responsibility is limited to posting the statement credit based on the data it receives from Better Mortgage.
Better Mortgage is solely responsible for making all credit and lending decisions including determining whether the mortgage loan meets offer eligibility requirements and the statement credit amount. American Express does not control mortgage lenders’ rates or fees, and this offer should not be relied on as the sole basis for determining the cost of your mortgage. Mortgage rates will vary by lender and you should shop around for the rate that is best for you.
This offer is not a commitment to lend, nor a guarantee that you will be approved for a mortgage from Better Mortgage. Offer only available on conforming or jumbo purchase or refinance loans.
This offer may be modified or revoked in whole or in part at any time. The effective date set forth at the top of this document indicates when these Terms and Conditions were last updated.
This offer is only available for mortgages on properties located in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Washington, DC.
2. Card Member Eligibility
This offer is only available to basic account holders of a personal consumer American Express Card, issued by a U.S. banking subsidiary of American Express (“eligible Card Members”), that meet the following requirements:

Prior to 4/4/24 (the “Lock Rate-By Date”), create an account with Better Mortgage by either: clicking the “I’m purchasing” or “I’m refinancing” link on better.com/with/amex; or
If you have already created an account with Better Mortgage, contact your Better Mortgage Loan consultant or call (877-688-3252) to request the offer prior to your loan closing; and
Lock your rate on a Better Mortgage loan application by the “Lock Rate-by-Date”, at which point an appraisal fee is charged; and
Qualify for and successfully close your mortgage loan with Better Mortgage by 7/8/24 (the “Close-by-Date”).
Offer cannot be retroactively applied to previously closed loans. This offer is not available to: Additional Card Members or holders of American Express Corporate Cards, Small Business Cards, Prepaid Cards and products, and American Express-branded cards or account numbers issued by other financial institutions.
3. Statement Credit
To receive the statement credit, the eligible Card Member must be a borrower or co-borrower(s) on the loan application and enter their own 15-digit card number when prompted by Better Mortgage. The card account must not be in a canceled status at the time the statement credit is applied.
Card Members will not receive a statement credit if their mortgage: (1) closes after 7/8/24 “Close-by-Date” for any reason, including delays caused by events out of their control; (2) is not successfully funded; (3) is for a property in a non-qualifying state;
Better Mortgage, in its sole discretion, will determine the statement credit amount ($2,000 for a conforming loan OR $6,000 for a jumbo loan) at loan closing. American Express will post the statement credit based on the data it receives from Better Mortgage. These statement credits are limited to one per mortgage loan and cannot be combined with any other promotions, discounts or offers. Only one statement credit per property within a six-month period.

The statement credit will be applied to an eligible Card Member’s account 8-12 weeks after their mortgage loan is funded. There may be situations where Better Mortgage needs to contact the Card Member to confirm details related to statement credit fulfillment. In these cases, there may be a delay in applying the statement credit to the account if Better Mortgage is unable to reach the Card Member in a timely manner. The value of the statement credit may be taxable income for Card Members, and they are responsible for any federal, state or other taxes resulting from this offer. Card Members should consult a tax advisor with any questions about the tax treatment of statement credits.
The statement credit will not count as a payment towards your Minimum Payment Due, and you must pay your Minimum Payment Due in full by your due date.
4. Dedicated Concierge
Eligible Card Members will be able to supplement their online, digital loan application and closing process, available through Better Mortgage’s website, with a dedicated concierge, assigned following pre-approval (or at the time the Card Member calls 877-688-3252 to request it), who will be their primary point of contact and provide assistance throughout the loan application process. Other Better Mortgage team members may contact the Card Member on an as-needed basis.
5. Better Mortgage Fees
Better Mortgage does not charge application, origination, underwriting, processing or commission fees. Other costs and fees will apply, including the appraisal fee required to lock your rate.
Better Mortgage is an Equal Housing Lender. As prohibited by federal law, Better Mortgage does not engage in business practices that discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age (provided you have the capacity to enter into a binding contract), because all or part of your income may be derived from any public assistance program, or because you have, in good faith, exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act.
